The municipality of Bettmeralp
lies on the right side of the valley in Upper Valais and belongs to the Oestlich Raron district. The total area is 2938 ha, of which 546 ha are agricultural land and around 46 ha of settlement areas.
The municipality consists of 3 localities: beds with the two districts Dorf and Egga (1203m above sea level),
Bettmeralp, as a well-known tourist station, can only be reached by aerial cableway (1948m above sea level) and since 01 January 2014 also Martisberg (1367m above sea level). The highest point in the municipality is the top of the Aletschhorn (4193m above sea level).
Bettmeralp is best known for its membership in the UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau – Aletsch, but also as a tourist resort with an ideal skiing and hiking area.
The famous chapel Maria zum Schnee in the heart of Bettmeralp is worth seeing and a popular subject for photos.
