Bettmeralp

There are people who say that Bettmeralp is addictive. The best way is to find out whether they are right is to see for yourself. Bettmeralp is a car-free sunny plateau at 1,950m, offering stunning views. The Aletsch glacier, which is the longest glacier in the Alps, and the entire region between the Jungfrau, Aletsch and Bietschhorn mountains has been named the first UNESCO world natural heritage area in the Alps.

Route Planner

Bettmeralp is only accessible by cable car. So how do you get to Bettmeralp?

By car
From Geneva or Lausanne, pass through Wallis in the direction of Brig/ Furka. From Milan, drive over the Simplon pass, which is open all year round. Otherwise, you can load your car onto the train which goes through the Simplon tunnel. From Basle or Berne, head towards Kandersteg (every 30 minutes cars can be loaded onto the train through the Lötschberg tunnel). Continue on to Brig and then another 12 kilometres towards Furka will bring you to Betten Lower Terminus (do not go towards Betten village, but in Mörel continue on further in the direction of Furka). In summer drive over the Grimsel and Furka alpine passes from the greater Zurich or Lucerne region. In winter go through the Furka tunnel, which is open all year. Here you can load your car onto the train. Then head towards Brig until you reach Betten lower terminus. At the lower terminus you will find many outdoor car parks and also a multi-storey car park. From here, take the cable car up to Bettmeralp.

By train
From Geneva, Zurich, Basle, Berne and Milan (Malpensa or Linate), there are direct connections to Brig. In Brig, connect to the Matterhorn-Gotthard train to Betten lower terminus. The train station is integrated into the cable car station. From there, take the cable car up to Bettmeralp.

From the mountain cable car station to the hotel
Call us from the lower terminus. In summer we will pick you up with our electric bus (for up to 5 people). In winter, we will pick up your luggage with a motorized sledge. From the station to the hotel it takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes on foot.
